I would keep persisiting as it can take them quite a few goes to take to solids. I found with DD that some-times I got the timing wrong, hense she wouldn't be too interested in solids. I think with your mum, it was probably good timing / co-incidence. I find that I can usually 'trick' DD once, but rarely twice - LOL. I think they are a lot smarter than we give them credit for at times. I think too the novelty of some-one else feeding them can work as a one off but you are the important one, setting up a routine and showing them how to eat properly. They will mimic you as I find now with DD, quite amazing. I am very careful how I do things as keen for her to learn properly, and not bad habits - ha ha ha ! Looking back to when I first started with DD at 6 months, really, all I was doing was shoving it in her mouth. It wasn't till a month or two down the track that it all clicked for her and she really enjoyed it. At this time she was able to do more like grab the spoon and shove it in her mouth or feed herself with some finger food. It sounds to me like you are doing every-thing right. As as you stick to the 3-5 days between introducing new foods to watch for reactions, you can't really go wrong. DD really enjoys pumpkin so might be worth trying next. A lot of bubs seem to take to it well, not really sure wy. Some good advice I was given is persistance as they may not like some-thing to start with - its all new, including the texture. In time they usually get use to it and enjoy it.
